Asset management is professional managing different types of assets aimed at getting profit by investors. Investors are either companies or private individuals.
Asset management activity includes:

  • employee recruiting, i.e. recruiting investment management professionals;
  • researching assets; 
  • making trade operations; 
  • marketing; 
  • inner auditing; 
  • reporting clients.
To carry out the asset management business successfully it is necessary to purchase special asset management software. It is of primary importance to conduct proper accounting of all the processes. In addition to asset managers it is necessary to recruit lawyers, inner auditors, financial inspectors, computer specialists and back office staff.

There are two type of asset management: security/stock management and real asset management. Security/stock management deals with different securities/stocks which can be either private or state. Real asset management deals with real estate, i.e. houses, lands, etc. Nowadays asset management companies are getting in demand. Asset management companies offer professional business conducting. Their activity is aimed at profitable projects. It is rather difficult to create an asset management department for any company as it involves significant expenses. So outsourcing is the way out, i.e. applying to an asset company. Reputation is an important aspect at choosing an asset company. It is necessary to study all the projects, worked out by the asset management staff, the year turn over of the company, all its clients. In every country there is a special legislation dealing with the activity of asset management companies. The activity of the companies is different, for example, in the USA and Russia.
